After being granted the First Award in the Great International Belvedere Competition in Wien (Austria), together with ten more honorable mentions, Maria Bayo established an international career, making her debut with Les Pêcheurs de Perles, Lucia di Lammermoor and La Sonnambula in Pisa, Sant Gallen and Lucerne, followed by her first Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro in Madrid and Paris Opera Bastille, with a great success.

Since then, she has been regularly invited in major international opera houses: Staatsoper of Berlín, Hambourg, Munich, Wien, Scala de Milán, La Monnaie, Covent Garden, Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires, Metropolitan of New York, Salzburg Festival, Pesaro, Aix-en-Provence, Beaune, Schwetzinger, Ruhr Triennale, as well as París, Lyon, Geneve, Marseille, Montpellier, Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla, Bilbao, Tel-Aviv, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston, etc, in order to perform Rossini (Il Barbiere di Siviglia; Tancredi; Bianca e Falliero, Viaggio a Reims); Donizetti (L´Elisir d´Amore; Don Pasquale); Puccini (La Boheme; Gianni Schicchi, Turandot); Cavalli (La Calisto); Haendel (Giulio Cesare; Rinaldo);
